The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, located in Mumbai’s Byculla area, is a historic turquoise building that houses the city's oldest museum. Established in 1857, the museum was initially known as the Victoria and Albert Museum. The concept of a museum in Mumbai originated during the preparations for the Great Exhibition of 1851 held in London. The building, considered historically significant, was the first colonial structure specifically built for a museum purpose.

In 1975, the museum was renamed in honor of Dr. Bhau Daji Lad, a renowned scholar, surgeon, philanthropist, social reformer, and the first Indian Sheriff of Mumbai in the 19th century. He played a crucial role in the museum's construction and the development of modern Mumbai. The museum's exterior and interior are equally impressive, with a stunning turquoise exterior and a grand, fascinating interior.

The museum's collection includes old statues, paintings, maps, historical artifacts, weapons, and other intriguing objects. A notable feature is a model of Bombay Castle, one of the earliest buildings in the city, which served as the historical nucleus around which the city grew.
