Construction Training Courses Offer New Skills to Vega Baja Workers

Twelve individuals have successfully completed a training course in Pilar de la Horadada, learning how to operate mobile elevating work platforms. This course is part of a series organized by the Vega Baja economic development consortium Convega and the Valencian branch of the Construction Labour Foundation. The aim is to enhance the skills and employment prospects of both unemployed individuals and those already employed.

The Pilar de la Horadada session included both classroom instruction and hands-on practice with the mobile elevating work platforms, frequently used for tasks at height. The course was delivered by the Construction Labour Foundation and was funded by the Alicante Provincial Council. Next month, the Torrevieja course will also run, offering 12 spots for 20 hours of training.

After the completion of the first course in Pilar de la Horadada, Asunción Sánchez, the employment councillor and Convega vice-president, expressed her congratulations to the participants. She highlighted that specialist training can enable local workers to improve their qualifications and better compete for jobs.

Carlos Pastor, the president of Convega, noted that the partnership between the consortium and the Construction Labour Foundation allows them to provide training that meets the practical needs of the construction sector. He added that training aligned with employers’ demands increases participants' chances of finding employment.
