Australia, who have only beaten Brazil once in their history, needed a late goal to avoid a draw in their first match in Townsville on Friday.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti commented on the tough nature of the game, praising Australia's quality and physical strength. Brazil took an early lead in the third minute when full-back Vanderson scored with a powerful volley past a diving Patrick Beach. Brazil almost doubled their lead two minutes later but Patrick Beach made two crucial saves.

The Socceroos gained momentum after the first half and took the lead in the 28th minute through Alessandro Circati, who capitalized on a deflection from a corner kick. Brazil equalized in the penalty spot through Raphinha after Harry Souttar fouled Danilo. In the second half, Brazil regained control with goals from Endrick and Vinicius Junior, both scored from penalty spots.

Socceroos captain Connor Metcalfe praised his team's performance, stating that the two games against Brazil showed they are a serious contender for the upcoming Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.
