Best Diplomats Appoints Benue-born Gloria Uko As Nigeria’s Country Representative

Gloria Onahi Uko, a native of Benue in Nigeria, has been appointed as the Country Representative for Best Diplomats, an international organization dedicated to diplomacy, leadership, negotiation, and youth development. The appointment, announced in a letter from Best Diplomats, is based on merit and is subject to a six-month probationary period, during which her performance will be evaluated.

As country representative, Uko is tasked with representing, promoting, and supporting Best Diplomats' conferences and initiatives throughout her 16-month tenure in Nigeria. Her responsibilities encompass engaging academic institutions, youth organizations, and diplomatic circles; promoting participation in the organization's international conferences; and supporting outreach and public relations activities.

Best Diplomats is a global entity that conducts diplomatic simulations inspired by institutions such as the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), and African Union (AU). Their mission centers on youth development worldwide, with a vision of uniting people and safeguarding the rights and interests of future generations. Uko's appointment precedes a slate of international programs across various countries, including Istanbul, Türkiye, London, UK, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, New Jersey, USA, Dubai, UAE, and Geneva, Switzerland.

These conferences, scheduled from October 2026 to July 2027, will focus on topics such as global food security, energy, digital transformation, cybersecurity, humanitarian diplomacy, and international cooperation. Serving as a liaison between Best Diplomats and Nigerian youths, educational institutions, and other stakeholders, Uko, known as Queen Glorious, will play a crucial role in connecting the organization with the Nigerian community.

Before her appointment, Uko had received foreign scholarships from Best Diplomats to attend conferences in Dubai and Geneva. A holder of a Bachelor of Arts in English from Benue State University and a Master of Science in International Business and Management from the University of Plymouth, England, Uko also served as the course/students representative during her studies.

As a Queen of Northern Nigeria in 2020, she championed the cause of the downtrodden, advocating for the empowerment and training of youths across northern Nigeria. Through her Glorious Outreach Foundation, she organized numerous outreach programs, positively impacting countless young lives. Additionally, Uko is a member of the Institute for Humanitarian Studies & Social Development (MIHSD), a volunteer for the Committee for Youth Mobilization & Sensitization (CYMS) Nigeria, and has participated in various youth programs throughout Nigeria and internationally, including the Benue State Children Parliament in 2011.
