Bengals lament mistakes in all 3 phases that kept them from going 3-0

The Cincinnati Bengals experienced a turning point on Sunday that derailed their quest for a perfect season, marking the first time since 2015 that they failed to go 3-0. Offense, defense and special teams all contributed to the Steelers' 30-27 victory over the Bengals. Bengals coach Zac Taylor admitted that mistakes in all three phases played a role in the loss.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns, but he fumbled at the Steelers' 46-yard line, resulting in a turnover that ultimately sealed the game. Offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher attributed the fumble to Burrow's attempt to escape the sack, which led to the turnover. The defense allowed 10 explosive plays, with four occurring in the run game after surrendering just two such plays in the first two games.

Special teams also suffered, with a muffed punt and a roughing-the-punter call contributing to the Steelers' 10-point lead. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow expressed hope that his teammates learn from the defeat, emphasizing the need for better football play.
