Bekas CEO FIC didakwa perdaya lembaga pengarah berkait projek Jalan Semarak

In 2014, Zaid Abdul Jalil, the former CEO of Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC), was charged with attempting to exert influence over the company's board members concerning a commercial development project at Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur. This action was said to have led to the board's approval of Synergy Promenade as the master developer. The same applies to the second charge, where Zaid was accused of attempting to influence the board by stating that the market assessment for the commercial development involving 24 pieces of Felda land totaling RM330.96 million, while he was aware that the actual figure reported by Firdaus & Associates Property Professionals Sdn Bhd was RM691.7 million.

He was also accused of attempting to influence the board by claiming that 24 pieces of land were valued at RM180 million, despite the fact that the Valuation and Asset Services Department never provided such an indicative valuation to FIC. Both charges were made under Section 417 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to five years, a fine, or both if found guilty of misleading.
