Austin Cindric's strong run at Kansas raises stock in Chase standings

Austin Cindric put on an impressive performance at the Kansas Speedway on Sunday, nearly closing a significant gap in the closing laps before finishing in second place. The driver, who started the race from 11th position, showcased his car as one of the top contenders in the field. Cindric earned points in both Stage 1 and Stage 2, leading the pack in the final green-flag pit stop sequence.

Despite falling behind by 4.6 seconds to Kyle Larson after the pit stops, Cindric relentlessly closed the gap, passing Chase Briscoe and reaching Larson's rear bumper before running out of laps. The final margin between the two drivers was a mere 0.565 seconds. Cindric's strong stage results and runner-up finish earned him 52 points, the second-highest tally of the race.

With 2,142 points, Cindric currently sits in ninth place in the Chase standings, trailing Kyle Larson by 140 points. Although he is still far from the championship lead, the strong performance at Kansas provided the type of high-point result that could keep Cindric's championship hopes alive.
