Assam woman riding Uber Bike dies after being hit by DTC bus

In Southeast Delhi, a 22-year-old woman named Hrishita Lahon from Assam was fatally injured when the Uber Bike she was riding was struck by a DTC bus at the Ashram flyover on Monday morning. The deceased, who was en route from Lajpat Nagar to Noida, was driving the Bajaj Platina two-wheeler alongside the victim. The bike's driver, identified as Darab Singh, sustained injuries during the collision.

Emergency services were alerted around 10 am, but no Police Rapid Response (PCR) team responded to the scene until later in the day. The initial report about the accident reached Jeewan Hospital, which then forwarded it to the New Friends Colony police station before it was transferred to the Sunlight Colony police station. Lahon was pronounced dead at Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar, approximately two hours after her arrival.

Police were unable to conduct an interview with the victim due to her critical condition and subsequent transfer between hospitals. Darab Singh, who initially informed investigators that he was riding the bike with Lahon when the bus hit them from behind, could not be questioned immediately as he had already left for Haryana for further treatment.

The deceased's clothes were collected by police and her body was preserved at AIIMS mortuary for a post-mortem examination, which was later conducted and the results handed over to her family. A case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sunlight Colony police station, and investigators are continuing their probe into the incident.
