[Asian Games] Badminton star An Se-young captures 2nd straight women's singles gold

In Ichinomiya, Japan, world No. 1 badminton player An Se-young secured her second consecutive Asian Games gold medal in women's singles on Tuesday. She accomplished the feat by defeating Akane Yamaguchi, world No. 3 from Japan, in the women's singles final with a score of 2-0 (21-17, 21-9) at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in Ichinomiya, situated northwest of Nagoya, the main host city of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

An has now become the first player to win back-to-back Asiad gold medals in women's singles since the event began in 1962. She has also won nine consecutive matches against Yamaguchi, including twice at this year's Asian Games. Prior to the singles final, An had previously outperformed her Japanese rival in the women's team event semifinals on Wednesday.

An's gold medal marked South Korea's second badminton title on Tuesday, following moments later when Lee So-hee and Baek Hana claimed the women's doubles gold medal.
