2027: Babachir Lawal accuses NDC’s Binani of supporting Atiku

Former Chief of Staff to the President, Babachir Lawal, has accused the candidate for Adamawa State Governorship position of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Binani, of backing Atiku Abubakar. Lawal posted his allegation on his official Facebook page on Monday. Lawal, who recently joined the NDC, expressed his dismay over Binani's alleged support for Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Lawal's statement came after it was reported that six NDC governorship candidates from the North-East had declined his appointment as the party's leader in the North-East and North-Central zones. He also revealed that the NDC candidates in Gombe and Taraba States had contacted him to disassociate themselves from the statement. According to Lawal, Nigeria should have Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso as its President and Vice President in 2027.

He vowed that there will be no tampering with the results of the 2027 elections, stating that "moles" would be made redundant. Lawal expressed his irritation over a social media story alleging that six NDC gubernatorial candidates were protesting his appointment as the party's leader in the North-East zone. He claimed that the controversy is a ploy orchestrated by a female impersonator of the Adamawa State gubernatorial candidate.
