16 c’nities competing in 2026 MTN Inter C’nity football gala

Sixteen community teams are set to compete in the 2026 MTN Inter-Community Football Gala, taking place at the Twene Amanfo Senior High School park in Sunyani, Bono Region. Organized by MTN Ghana in collaboration with Sun City Radio, the three-week event, aptly named Sun City Fest, aims to celebrate culture, community spirit, music, sports and health.

The festivities, which kicked off on September 26, will conclude on October 11 and mark a significant milestone as part of MTN Ghana's 30th anniversary celebrations nationwide.

Among the participating communities are Area One, Area Two, Zongo, Kotokrom, Baakoniaba, and several others. Last year's champions, Nkwabeng, will compete again. At the event's launch, Mr. Obed Adu Amankwah, MTN Ghana's Regional Sales Manager for the Ashanti, Bono, and Ahafo regions, highlighted Sun City Fest as one of the company's key regional platforms to engage with communities, showcase local culture, reward customers, and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders.

This year's program has been meticulously crafted with a diverse array of activities designed to entertain, engage, and empower the people of the Bono Region.

Mr. Kwame Baah, the Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority, expressed appreciation for MTN Ghana's consistent organization of the football gala, emphasizing that such events provide an invaluable platform for identifying and nurturing sports talents and fostering careers. He added that the government is committed to enhancing sports infrastructure in the region and announced that President Akufo-Addo will officially break ground in October for the construction of a new sports stadium in the area.

Mr. Ransford Antwi, CEO of Suncity Group of Companies, praised MTN Ghana for its vision and foresight in maintaining the Sun City Fest tradition for the past decade. He urged residents to actively engage in the various activities to ensure the festival's success. The ultimate prize awaits the victorious team: a cash prize of GH¢30,000.
