“Who knows?”: Man United legend keeps door ajar for sensational return to management

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has expressed interest in a potential return to management, according to recent comments he made on Sky Sports’ A-Z feature. Keane, who spent 12 years at Old Trafford, won numerous titles during his playing career, including seven league titles, four FA Cups, and a Champions League. After retiring in 2006, Keane transitioned into management, coaching teams such as Sunderland, Ipswich Town, the Republic of Ireland national team, and Aston Villa.

In his latest interview, Keane admitted that a part of him still harbors thoughts of returning to management. He mentioned, "strangely enough, at weekends when I’m watching games, there are teams I watch and you go, ‘I think I could go in there and do a job.'" However, Keane clarified that this feeling only strikes him during the weekends, dissipating as soon as the week begins.

He added, "all these managers driving up and down the motorways and stresses. But yeah, I do. I think there’s always something there. The pilot light is still on for something. If someone gave me a phone call and told you, you know what? Who knows? It’s going to be unlikely."

Despite having previously considered managerial opportunities, Keane ultimately opted to stay in his punditry role due to various challenges associated with management, such as contracts and staff issues. He concluded, "but the reality is then, and I’ve had opportunities the last few years, but then there’s contracts and staff issues and you go, ‘Really?’ And sometimes you go, ‘Stick to what you’re doing.'"
