Wan Junaidi, Hajiji extend condolences to Dr Mahathir over Dr Hasmah’s death

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has conveyed her deepest condolences upon the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, the wife of the nation's former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who departed this world at the age of 100. In a statement released on behalf of her family, Rosmah expressed her sorrow upon learning of Dr Hasmah's demise in the early hours of the day.

She offered her sympathies to the bereaved family and beseeched Allah for His mercy to envelop the departed soul, alongside a plea for the acceptance of all righteous acts performed during her lifetime. Rosmah added, "Al-Fatihah. I have many memories with the late Tun from a time long ago..."

Dr Hasmah, a medical practitioner and the wife of Tun Mahathir during his two tenures as Prime Minister, spanning 1981 to 2003 and 2018 to 2020, breathed her last at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur. The news was confirmed by Dr Hasmah's son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim subsequently announced that Dr Hasmah would be accorded a state funeral.
