UP Govt Steps Up Drainage & Power Restoration Measures After Heavy Rainfall

Lucknow, September 28 - The Yogi government has ramped up efforts to restore public amenities following heavy rainfall in the state. Urban Development and Energy department officials have been instructed to act swiftly in affected regions. A priority is being placed on drainage in waterlogged areas, with immediate cleaning and sanitization to prevent disease.

Major roads and routes are to be cleared of potholes, and special cleanliness arrangements are to be made around religious sites. The minister reviewed arrangements for waterlogging, drainage, cleanliness, and disease prevention in urban areas, emphasizing the need to enhance sanitation and public amenities ahead of upcoming festivals.

In the Energy Department review, the minister held a virtual meeting with high-ranking government officials and DISCOMs to assess the status of power infrastructure impacted by the excessive rainfall and natural calamities. He directed the deployment of additional machinery, equipment, and manpower to rapidly restore power supply wherever necessary.

The minister affirmed that power supply is generally smooth across most of the state, but any delays in restoration due to waterlogging or other reasons should be avoided. Continuous field-level monitoring is required, with local conditions carefully assessed, and repair work on damaged lines, transformers, and other power infrastructure to be expedited for the benefit of consumers.
