TUC asks DSS to arrest alleged ASCSN impersonators, warns of legal action

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has requested the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest individuals who are allegedly impersonating the leadership of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN). This demand was made by TUC Secretary-General, Comrade Nuhu Toro, in a recent statement. According to Toro, the TUC only acknowledges ASCSN under the leadership of Shehu Mohammed, awaiting the Court of Appeal's decision.

The TUC maintains that this stance is in line with the union's internal democratic processes. They argue that the individuals claiming to be ASCSN leaders are relying on a flawed lower court judgment, as the Mohammed-led administration has already appealed the decision. The TUC expresses serious concern over unauthorized individuals and groups posing as ASCSN leaders, stating that these actions are illegal, constitute impersonation, and threaten the unity, discipline, and integrity of the labor movement, potentially jeopardizing industrial peace and national stability.

The TUC clarifies that the impersonators' reliance on a lower court judgment is misleading and legally unsound, as the judgment is currently under appeal by Shehu Mohammed's administration at the Court of Appeal. Until the final court decision, TUC asserts that these individuals have no lawful authority to represent or act on behalf of ASCSN.

The statement urges all security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS, to conduct immediate investigations and take necessary actions against the offenders for their illegal activities and impersonation.
