Troops Neutralise Terrorist, Recover AK-47, Motorcycle in Sokoto

Troops from Sector 2, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully neutralized a terrorist and seized weapons and supplies during a raid on a suspected terrorist hideout in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Lt Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the acting Assistant Director, reported that the troops were alerted by credible intelligence and moved towards a terrorist camp in Karani village.

Upon engaging the hostile elements, they promptly responded with force, eliminating one terrorist while the others escaped. During their search of the camp, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with live ammunition, an operational motorcycle, military camouflage uniforms, and various maintenance tools and logistical supplies.

Following the encounter, the troops conducted clearance operations in the surrounding forest area to regain control of the region and prevent fleeing elements from escaping. Osoba emphasized that this operation dealt a significant blow to the criminal elements' operational capability in the area. The operation team reiterated their dedication to carrying out aggressive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements in the joint operations area.

They appealed to residents to continue providing valuable information to support their ongoing efforts. The local community expressed gratitude for the military's renewed offensive, urging them to maintain their presence in the cleared areas to allow farmers to resume their agricultural activities and engage in normal business operations.
