Torrent Pharma raises investment in Torrent Urja 27 to ₹11.88 cr to acquire 26% stake

Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd, known as Torrent Pharma, has announced on September 28, 2026, a significant increase in its investment in Torrent Urja 27 Private Limited, raising its stake from ₹7.91 crore to ₹11.87 crore. This enhanced investment will grant Torrent Pharma a 26 percent share in Torrent Urja. The company amended its Share Subscription and Shareholders' Agreement on the same day to reflect the new arrangement, following an expansion in Torrent Urja's project capacity.

Torrent Urja, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Torrent Green Energy Private Limited, is a special purpose vehicle dedicated to establishing a captive hybrid (solar + wind) power project in Gujarat. The increased investment aligns with Torrent Pharma's strategic goal of boosting renewable power sources in its operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements under Indian electricity laws.

The acquisition entails the purchase of 1,18,79,010 Class A Equity Shares, each with a face value of ₹10, settled through cash consideration. Torrent Pharma's profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2026, fell 27 percent to ₹364 crore, while revenue surged 42 percent due to exceptional items. In contrast, the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 saw a more robust profit of ₹566 crore with revenue up 55 percent.

Torrent Urja was incorporated in India and registered in Ahmedabad on August 6, 2024. As of March 31, 2026, the entity had not begun operations and reported zero turnover. Torrent Pharma anticipates completing the acquisition within 18 to 21 months.
