The Netherlands to provide EUR 10 mln to modernize two training centers in Ukraine

Dutch Defense Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius announced that the Netherlands will contribute EUR 10 million to upgrade two training centers in Ukraine. The Dutch Defense Minister spoke at a European Union defense ministers meeting in Brussels, where hybrid attacks by Russia, military aid for Ukraine, and the Middle East situation were on the agenda.

The Netherlands, alongside other European nations, is investing in the modernization of training centers to enable Ukrainian soldiers to train in a high-tech setting where good training can be a matter of life and death on the battlefield. Dutch soldiers have contributed to the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine, which has trained nearly 100,000 Ukrainian troops, including specialized training for mechanics and tank crews.

The minister highlighted the importance of European allies continuing to offer comprehensive support to Ukraine as winter approaches, emphasizing that the Netherlands remains committed to supporting Ukraine. Key priorities for Dutch support include drones, air defense, and F-16 assistance, which also directly enhances the Netherlands' own security.

The Ukrainians have demonstrated that with our support, they can effectively counter Russian attacks. In February 2026, Denmark pledged to fund the modernization of the Ukrainian Armed Forces training center infrastructure, investing around EUR 33 million towards improvements in training facilities, living conditions, equipment, and training drones.

The project is overseen by the international charitable foundation Come Back Alive, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has previously signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with this organization.
