The Mummy 4 Set Photos Show First Look at Rachel Weisz's Return

Set photos of The Mummy 4 have revealed actress Rachel Weisz reprising her role as Evelyn O'Connell. Weisz, now 56 years old, was photographed in costume as a librarian, Egyptologist, and action heroine in London. The scenes were reportedly filmed outside the British Museum, with the movie set to debut early in the film. This is Weisz's return to the franchise, nearly 20 years after the 2008 installment, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, where Maria Bello portrayed the character.

Director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have hinted that Tomb of the Dragon Emperor may not be considered canon.

Brendan Fraser, who plays Rick O'Connell, sustained multiple injuries during the filming of previous Mummy movies, including a torn spinal disc and a cracked rib. These health issues led to several surgeries and a lengthy career break. John Hannah will reprise his role as Jonathan Carnahan, Evelyn's brother, from the first three Mummy films. Oded Fehr returns as Ardeth Bay.

Fans have reacted positively to the set photos, complimenting Weisz's period-appropriate attire. The Mummy is set in 1926, The Mummy Returns in 1933, and Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 1946, with the exact time period for The Mummy 4 unclear, but it appears to be set in 1950s post-war London. Weisz is seen holding a transistor radio in one of the photos, a device introduced in the mid-to-late 1950s.
