The Ladder Project engages 60 UPSA student leaders on leadership and Ghana’s next chapter

Leadership House, an organization aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), convened 60 student leaders from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) for an event called The Ladder Project. The event, held on September 24, 2026, focused on leadership, citizenship, and Ghana's future. Key speakers included Akuapem North Member of Parliament Sammi Awuku and Akosua Asaa Manu, a public policy and communications professional.

The sessions, titled "Leadership, Citizenship and Ghana’s Next Chapter," included discussions on leadership, Ghana's future, and the role of young people in public life. The first session, "The Leadership Journey," explored the experiences that shape leaders before and after holding public office, covering influence before formal positions, turning points, failures, and lessons from public leadership.

The second session, "Ghana’s Next Chapter," shifted the conversation to national issues, including governance, the economy, employment, education, technology, and public trust. Participants examined the challenges facing the country and discussed the contributions young people can make to address them. The third segment, "The Student Leaders’ Floor," provided a platform for participants to directly question speakers and share their perspectives, creating a more interactive atmosphere.

The fourth session examined political participation and expectations of young people, focusing on political values, party renewal, and responsible participation in Ghana's democratic process. The program concluded with a synthesis session where participants identified five leadership lessons, five national priorities, and individual commitments derived from the day's discussions.

These outcomes are expected to guide continued engagement beyond the event. Leadership House aims to create a structured platform for young people to interact with political and civic leaders on issues affecting their communities and the country, emphasizing engagement between political leaders and young people, leadership development, civic participation, and national issues.
