Texas A&M volleyball sweeps South Carolina to open SEC play

In their first Southeastern Conference match, No. 16 Texas A&M volleyball swept South Carolina on Sunday at Reed Arena. The Aggies won 25-14, 25-14 and 25-18, improving their overall record to 8-5 and 1-0 in conference play. Throughout the match, Texas A&M held the Gamecocks below 20 points in each set and achieved a career-high .385 hitting percentage.

Taryn Morris had an outstanding performance, leading the team with the best match of her career. She contributed 15 kills, with no attack errors, and maintained a .682 hitting percentage. Lolufe Adedeji also played a crucial role by making the most of her increased playing time, recording eight kills and six blocks. The Aggies took control of the first set with a five-point run, stretching their lead to 20-9.

In the second set, Margot Manning's serving helped the Aggies score the first seven points, with Taryn Morris finishing the set with consecutive kills. Although South Carolina kept the third set close early, Texas A&M broke a 3-3 tie with a 6-1 run, securing their sweep of the match. Key players of the game included Megan Fitch with 10 kills, Kyndal Stowers recording her 500th kill at Texas A&M, Kirra Musgrove with 36 assists, and Gabi Rodriguez extending her consecutive double-digit digs streak to 11.

The conference opener also marked several milestone moments for several Aggies. Stowers achieved her 500th kill, Fitch reached 100 career kills, and Djurdja Stanojevic recorded her first career service ace. Texas A&M will continue their winning streak by facing Alabama on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
