‘Tell Me Your Name, Designation’: Rahul Gandhi Confronts SDM Over Voter List Deletions In Delhi's Bela Estate

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi confronted a Special Deputy Magistrate (SDM) over allegations that 727 residents of Delhi's Bela Estate, near the Yamuna, had their names removed from the voter list following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. In a video shared on social media, Gandhi questioned the SDM about the removal of the residents' names and asked for his name and designation, insisting he would be treated differently.

Gandhi claimed that the 728 people who live in Bela Estate, many of whom have been living there for decades and have voted in recent elections, were left with only one name on the voter list after SIR. He criticized the deletion of the names, arguing that the residents' right to vote should not be taken away simply because they do not have "formal houses."

Gandhi referred to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's reported remarks about using "House Number 0" for homeless voters, suggesting the same principle should apply to the Bela Estate residents. The Congress leader accused the electoral process of being a form of "vote theft" and called for accountability from those involved.
