Taylor Swift Unveils World Premiere Of ‘Patient Zero’, Honored: MTV VMAs Winners List (UPDATING)

Taylor Swift unveiled the video for "Patient Zero" from her recent deluxe edition of The Life of a Showgirl during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. The video, directed by Swift herself, features Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, with cinematography by Oscar-winning Emmanuel Lubezki. The clip starts with Johnson holding a black rose in a wintry cemetery, alongside Swift.

Johnson and Farrell portray a tragic love story described in Swift's lyrics, with Swift acting as an angel to Johnson. In the second half, the roles are reversed, with Swift swapping places with Johnson, seemingly placing the rose on her grave. In an online post, Swift expressed gratitude to Johnson and Farrell for trusting her with their time and talent, praising Lubezki's genius, and acknowledging the production design by Ethan Tobman.

She also thanked her editor Chancler Haynes and the 2026 MTV VMAs for premiering the video. Swift was nominated for 11 awards at the VMAs, including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year for "The Fate of Ophelia." The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore includes four new tracks recorded with Max Martin and Shellback during a Swedish recording session.
