Tarar says PTI-led KP govt has failed to act against terrorism

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar expressed disappointment in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), stating that the administration has failed to take practical measures against terrorism. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar accused the provincial government of facilitating terrorism for political and financial gains, despite the loss of numerous innocent lives. He alleged that the PTI leadership in KP is the "B team" of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Tarar claimed that the KP government has been providing facilitation to terrorists for their political and financial interests. He criticized the government for refraining from bringing non-customs-paid vehicles under the legal framework, as these vehicles are often used in terrorist activities. Tarar called for details on how the resources meant for counter-terrorism efforts have been utilized by the provincial government.

The information minister emphasized the federal government's determination to eradicate terrorism, noting that the PTI has been in power in KP for over twelve and a half years, yet the people of the province continue to seek medical treatment in other regions. Tarar criticized the government's performance, highlighting the involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist incidents in Pakistan. He expressed disappointment that the PTI has not condemned Afghanistan over the issue.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also spoke at the press conference, emphasizing the involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities in Pakistan. He regretted that the PTI government has not condemned Afghanistan regarding the issue. Chaudhry lamented that the KP government has attempted to curtail the powers of the police under the KP Police Act, 2026, despite failing to provide adequate resources and empower the police to combat terrorism.
