Stranded in Uttarkashi snow, 29 trekkers airlifted; rescue operation on for more

Heavy snowfall stranded 29 trekkers at Auden's Col in Uttarkashi, leading to a helicopter rescue on Monday. Another group of 19 trekkers remain missing at Kalindi Khal, part of the Kalindi Trek, and a rescue operation is currently underway. The stranded trekkers were taken to Harsil, where medical teams conducted initial assessments.

Uttarkashi District Magistrate Prashant Arya reported that the trekkers were unable to move or continue their expeditions due to the heavy snowfall. The rescue operation was conducted with the help of various agencies, including the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority. Meanwhile, a separate rescue mission is being carried out at Kalindi Khal, where seven trekkers have been safely rescued so far, with efforts to evacuate the remaining 12 underway.
