Some Dubai-style chocolate recalled in UK over salmonella fears

A recall notice has been issued in the UK for two varieties of Dubai-style chocolate due to potential salmonella contamination, according to officials at the Food Standards Agency. The UK's largest confectionery distributor, importer and wholesaler, World of Sweets, issued the notice for Alyan Dubai Style Crunchy Knafeh and Pistachio Milk Chocolate, as well as Alyan Dubai Style Chocolate Truffles.

The alert was prompted by the risk of salmonella contamination in the products. Symptoms of salmonella infection can include fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. World of Sweets has announced that it will place signs in all its stores that sell the affected products and will arrange for the collection of the items if necessary.

The Food Standards Agency advised consumers who have purchased the chocolate not to consume it and to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund. Dubai-style chocolate has gained popularity in the UK and throughout Europe due to its social media appeal. However, there have been concerns about certain unregulated imports sold by independent retailers that may lack essential ingredients or allergen warnings.
