Sombr Paid Secret Homage to George Michael During All-Star 2026 VMAs Tribute With a Signature Piece of Late Singer’s Wardrobe

Sombr delivered a standout performance at the 2026 MTV VMAs in Los Angeles, honoring the late pop icon George Michael with a tribute that included emotive renditions of "Faith" and "Father Figure." The 21-year-old artist, known for his powerful vocals, paid tribute to Michael by donning one of his signature leather jackets from the Faith era.

The black, Harley-Davidson motorcycle jacket, adorned with chain links and pins, was worn by Michael during his 1988-1989 tour and featured in a 1989 Diet Coke commercial. Sombr shared his admiration for Michael's enduring influence, noting that the musician's self-written, self-produced music had been a significant inspiration since his teenage years.

The tribute, which also featured RAYE, Teddy Swims, Adam Lambert, MNEK, MEEK and Saint Harison, came nearly a decade after Michael's passing in December 2016. Sombr's decision to wear the jacket was driven by his desire to honor Michael's iconic style, stating that it was both surreal and an honor to be a part of the tribute.
