Sheinbaum announces new report on Ayotzinapa after 12th anniversary of mass kidnapping: Monday’s mañanera recapped

At her Monday morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum discussed Hurricane Polo approaching Baja California Sur. Civil Protection chief Laura Velázquez provided an update on the hurricane's forecasted landfall in Comondú between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The hurricane was expected to make a second impact on the central coast of Sonora on Tuesday. Sheinbaum urged residents in Comondú, Mulegé and Loreto to remain indoors or in temporary shelters from 2 p.m. that same day.

Meanwhile, the labor market saw a significant increase, with 1.2 million jobs added in the past year, bringing the total to 60.7 million. However, the report did not specify that 55% of these employed individuals work in the informal sector, lacking employment benefits.

The focus shifted to a new report on the 2014 disappearance and presumed murder of 43 students from Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers College in Guerrero. Sheinbaum mentioned that Deputy Interior Minister Arturo Medina and special prosecutor Mauricio Pazarán would present new "lines of inquiry" in the case, stating that it "is not closed." Parents of the missing students had already been informed about the report's contents.
