Russian strikes kill seven across Ukraine, hit Kiev academy & clinic

Seven people were killed and dozens wounded in fresh Russian strikes across Ukraine on Monday, with a scientific academy and a medical facility among the buildings hit in Kiev, officials said. Three people perished in the attacks in the south-eastern city of Dnipro, according to military Governor Oleksandr Hanzha. Another 15 individuals sustained injuries in the strikes, Hanzha reported, sharing images and videos of the damaged structures.

In Synelnykove, a nearby town, a Russian strike targeting a logistics center resulted in at least one death and three injuries, including a 15-year-old boy in critical condition.

The eastern city of Kharkiv reported 35 people wounded after Russian strikes using glide bombs on a residential building. Mayor Ihor Terekhov initially stated that 29 people were injured, including 10 minors. The National Academy of Sciences in the historic center of Kiev faced a Russian attack, causing a fire that engulfed the building.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the incident, and emergency crews were working to rescue occupants of the historic research facility. Zelensky released a video showcasing extensive damage to the academy. Additionally, a medical facility in the capital was struck, with emergency crews battling a fire. The private Dobrobut clinic chain confirmed that one of its locations had been targeted, having previously housed a branch of telecommunications company Ukrtelecom. Ukrtelecom's headquarters are situated adjacent to the National Academy of Sciences building.
