Roughly 9 in 10 Korean seniors want to learn how to use AI

According to a recent survey conducted by the Korean news outlet Hankyoreh, 94.7% of Korean seniors, aged 60 to 74, expressed an interest in learning how to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Ahn Jeong-ok, a 61-year-old businesswoman, exemplifies this enthusiasm, as she has found AI helpful in various tasks such as researching travel destinations and restaurants.

Survey results showed that 55.2% of respondents attributed their positive outlook on AI to its potential to make daily life more convenient, while 25.5% believed AI could improve health and safety. Concerns about AI were also prevalent, with 30.1% of seniors viewing it as a burden due to its learning curve, and 26.6% worrying about job loss and weakened interpersonal connections.

Despite these concerns, the majority of seniors see AI as a valuable tool for accessing public services and managing their health. Head of social affairs at the Presidential Council on National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, You Jae-youn, emphasized that AI technology is accessible and can seamlessly integrate into seniors' daily lives.
