Rash driving case registered after video of car dragging motorcycle with man on bonnet goes viral

Rawalpindi police have registered a case of rash driving following the widespread sharing of a video depicting a vehicle with a person perched on its bonnet and a motorcycle being dragged along the road. The incident occurred on September 25 around 11:25pm. Police registered the case at New Town police station on a complaint made by New Town Traffic Police Inspector Wahid Ikhlaq.

The case is being pursued under Sections 279 for rash driving or riding on a public way, and 427 for mischief causing damage to property valued at fifty rupees or more, as per the Pakistan Penal Code. The FIR describes the incident involving two cars - a black Honda Civic and a white one. The white car's driver was found atop the black car's bonnet when it collided with a motorcycle, dragging it along the road.

The white car's driver remains unidentified, as does the driver of the black vehicle against whom the case has been filed. No arrests have been made yet. The complainant described the incident as "clear proof of negligence, carelessness and causing harm" and a "clear violation of the law and intentionally damaging a vehicle."
