Raoni Barcelos releases first statement since scary UFC Vegas 121 loss to Raul Rosas Jr.

Raoni Barcelos, a 39-year-old bantamweight fighter, has released his first statement since his alarming UFC Vegas 121 main event defeat to Raul Rosas Jr. at Meta APEX. Despite appearing on the verge of unconsciousness with under three minutes remaining in the fight, Barcelos assures his supporters that he is currently doing well.

The veteran fighter, who was leading in the scorecards heading into the final round, said he is "doing great" and plans to provide a video update to his followers. The UFC and Barcelos' camp have not yet disclosed the reason behind his collapse.

Barcelos' head coach, Davi Ramos, stated on Sunday that the athlete is conscious and being monitored in a Las Vegas hospital. He elaborated, "Raoni is doing well. He has all his senses, he’s moving his leg, his arm, his hand, he’s conscious, he’s talking, everything is fine with him." Ramos also mentioned that Barcelos is undergoing various standard tests and expects to speak with fans in the near future.

The coach debunked concerns about a potential stroke or heart attack, emphasizing that there is still no definitive explanation for what transpired during the fight. Laerte Barcelos, Raoni's father and trainer, further reassured fans by posting a video on social media, where he clarified that the incident was not caused by a stroke or heart attack.
