Qatar Social, Cultural Center for Blind organises session on media impact on lives of the blind

In Doha, Qatar, the Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind (QSCCB) organized a meeting alongside the unit for monitoring programs for individuals with disabilities at the Da'wah and Religious Guidance Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. The gathering focused on media and its influence on the lives of the blind.

During the discussion, Abdullah Al Buainain, Supervisor of Qatar Holy Qur'an Radio, recounted his early experiences in the media industry, significant career achievements, and the obstacles he encountered. He stressed that excelling in media requires more than innate talent; it involves a combination of training, practice, and skill refinement.

Al Buainain highlighted the significance of reading, self-instruction, text comprehension, and subject-matter expertise for media professionals, alongside delivery and presentation abilities. He underscored the necessity for media practitioners to maintain values, principles, integrity, credibility, and professionalism. He also cautioned about the importance of verifying information and its sources before dissemination, considering the potential impact of the content before publishing, and weighing the benefits against the possible harm to others.

The Supervisor of Qatar Holy Qur'an Radio summarized the meeting by instructing attendees on the equipment and technologies utilized in the radio studio, the procedures for preparing, coordinating, and compiling media content, and offering insights into the role and responsibilities of radio hosts. This event was part of the QSCCB's dedication to organizing programs and events that enhance the skills and competencies of its members, bolster their presence in diverse fields, and encourage their active involvement in society.
