Pune: ‘Stolen’ Gold Worth ₹13.98 Lakh Found In Same House; Husband Planned To Sell It, Wife Hid It

Pune police have cracked a housebreaking case, recovering gold and silver jewelry worth ₹13,98,978 within just 12 hours. The jewelry was found hidden inside the complainant's own house by his wife, who had been planning to sell the items to purchase a new home. The case was registered at the Dighi Police Station under specific provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Following a parallel investigation, investigators reviewed CCTV footage but found no evidence of an intruder entering or exiting the building around the time of the crime. Police then turned their focus on the complainant's family, questioning his wife thoroughly. She admitted to concealing the valuable ornaments within the house, fearing they would be sold off.

The jewelry was later presented to witnesses, leading to its seizure by the Crime Branch. The recovered gold and silver pieces were valued at ₹13.98 lakh, helping the police clarify what had transpired and resolve the housebreaking complaint. The investigation was conducted by Crime Branch Unit-3 under the guidance of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, with a team of senior officers including Senior Police Inspector Santosh Kasbe and police personnel Yuvraj Birajdar and others.
