President Sheikh Mohamed meets Turkish Foreign Minister to strengthen bilateral ties

Abu Dhabi received Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Monday, reinforcing the strong bonds between the UAE and Turkey. Mr Fidan conveyed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's warmest wishes for the UAE's ongoing prosperity and progress. Sheikh Mohamed in turn, asked Mr Fidan to relay his greetings to the Turkish President and his aspirations for Turkey's continued prosperity and development.

The bilateral discussions highlighted areas of cooperation and potential avenues to deepen the relationship between the two nations. The talks also addressed regional and global concerns, with a particular emphasis on Middle Eastern developments. Both leaders underscored the significance of fostering security, stability, and enduring peace in the region.

In May, Sheikh Mohamed and Erdogan had previously explored strategies to strengthen their ties within the framework of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which took effect in March 2023. This conversation followed a phone call between the two leaders. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, the UAE's Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, had met with Erdogan during a visit to Turkey, discussing regional issues, including "developments in the Middle East and their repercussions on regional security and stability".

The meeting on Monday was attended by a senior UAE delegation, including Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra region Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Authority for People of Determination Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed, and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak.
