Phillies Lose 1 All-Star, Get Another Back Before Playoffs

The Philadelphia Phillies received mixed injury updates prior to the start of their postseason run against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo suffered a left shoulder injury in September, but he is scheduled to make a return for the first game of their Wild Card series. However, center fielder Luis Arraez will miss the entire series after spraining his ankle during a game against the Milwaukee Brewers last week.

Arraez, who had an impressive .800 OPS before the trade deadline, struggled with a .678 OPS, two home runs, and 21 RBIs during his 46 games with the Phillies this season. Despite the absence of Arraez, the Phillies believe that Luzardo's return will be their biggest asset in the postseason. Luzardo had been one of the best pitchers in MLB, posting a 1.82 ERA in 11 appearances with 85 strikeouts in just 69.1 innings pitched.
