PCB Eyes Australia and New Zealand Greats for Key Coaching Roles

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is exploring the possibility of bringing in foreign consultants for key coaching roles within the national team, according to recent reports. The talks are focusing on two prominent former players from Australia and New Zealand - Shaun Tait and Martin Guptill.

Shaun Tait, a former Australian fast bowler, is being considered for the role of bowling consultant. Tait previously served as the national team's bowling coach from 2022 to early 2023 before leaving when his contract was not renewed. He then joined Bangladesh as fast-bowling coach in 2025 and stepped down in June 2026 after completing around a year with the team. The PCB is considering Tait as a consultant due to his limited availability as he continues to play in leagues around the world.

Martin Guptill, a former New Zealand batter, is also in discussions with the PCB over a possible fielding consultant position. Guptill, who remains active in various leagues, has no prior experience in professional coaching. If an agreement is reached, this would mark his first stint as a coach.

The PCB is currently seeking to fill vacancies in its coaching setup following the resignation of Ashley Noffke as Pakistan's bowling coach. Noffke has since taken up the position of head coach for the Netherlands. The PCB has already advertised the bowling coach position, while an advertisement for the fielding coach role was issued a few weeks earlier.
