Patrick Mahomes’ harsh take on Chiefs win over Dolphins to maintain unbeaten start to NFL season

Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, offered a critical evaluation of his team's performance following their 21-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Currently, Mahomes is on an exceptional start to the 2026 NFL season, positioning himself as a frontrunner for another MVP award, alongside a potential Comeback Player of the Year accolade.

Although the Chiefs boast a flawless 3-0 record, Mahomes has expressed dissatisfaction with their play, stating that they are not playing to their usual high standards. Speaking to reporters post-game, Mahomes admitted that the team fell short in the middle of the game, specifically from the second to third quarter. However, he emphasized that they managed to rally in the end, focusing on learning from the experience rather than reveling in the win.

Mahomes highlighted the need for his team to deliver their "A-game" consistently to secure victories. Despite his impressive performance, with a completion rate of 20-for-24 for 246 yards and two touchdowns, Mahomes had an interception. The defense, while containing the Dolphins to 10 points, struggled to maintain a strong performance, committing eight penalties for 50 yards and experiencing a long scoreless stretch from the end of the second quarter to the beginning of the fourth.
