Palghar Road Accident: 75-Year-Old Man Dies After Falling From Two-Wheeler Due To Uneven Road, Hit By Container Truck

On Monday morning in Palghar, Maharashtra, a 75-year-old man named Brijkmohan Bholaram Nirmal lost his life in a tragic road accident. Nirmal, a resident of Tembhode, was riding his two-wheeler from Manor towards Palghar around 11 am when the incident occurred. The accident took place near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, specifically at the police outpost at the junction.

Witnesses reported that Nirmal lost his balance while navigating a pothole on the road, causing him to fall off his vehicle. The fatal blow came a moment later when a container truck traveling behind him collided with the fallen man, resulting in fatal injuries. Nirmal succumbed to his wounds at the scene. The accident took place near a recently constructed free-left lane at the junction, where residents have noted an uneven road surface.

This unevenness is believed to be caused by the concrete portion of the new stretch being at a different level than the existing asphalt road, creating an unsafe situation for two-wheeler riders. The Palghar junction has been under widening work for several months, with additional space added to corners to facilitate free-left movement for vehicles between Boisar, Manor, and Palghar.

However, residents have expressed concerns about the uneven road surface at this junction, which has become a recurring issue for two-wheeler riders. The current condition of roads in Palghar city has also been a cause for worry, with numerous stretches developing potholes during the monsoon. Temporary repairs at some locations have failed to hold up due to heavy rain and continuous traffic.

In light of this incident, residents have called for urgent attention to be given to dangerous potholes and uneven road surfaces, particularly at busy junctions and turning points, to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
