October 5 phased opening set for Kai Tak Hospital

The Hospital Authority (HA) announced on Monday that Kai Tak Hospital will commence phased operations from October 5, gradually taking over clinical services previously provided at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and becoming Kowloon's public healthcare center. The Family Medicine Integrated Centre will start functioning on October 5, offering approximately 250 daily slots during the initial phase.

Patients can schedule appointments through the HA's mobile app (HA Go) or by phone, starting October 4. Starting late October, specialist outpatient services from Queen Elizabeth Hospital's medicine, surgery, neurosurgery, and clinical oncology departments will be transferred to Kai Tak in stages. The second phase, planned for 2028, will incorporate major clinical services like inpatient care, surgery, and the accident and emergency unit.

To assist patients in the initial phase, the HA will station service ambassadors around the hospital to provide directions and manage inquiries. Patients with scheduled appointments at Kai Tak Hospital will also receive reminders via mail, SMS, and the HA Go app.
