NPP to simulate national elections at Baba Yara Stadium ahead of October 3 polls

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to conduct a comprehensive simulation of its national elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, ahead of the October 3 polls. This drill, scheduled for today, Tuesday, September 29, is a crucial part of the party's final preparations for the upcoming elections. The simulation will involve the NPP National Elections Committee, the Ghana Electoral Commission (EC), and the Ghana Police Service, all working together to assess the readiness of the arrangements and procedures expected on election day.

The primary aim of this simulation is to identify any potential gaps in the process and rectify them before the actual elections take place. It will also serve as an opportunity for stakeholders to become familiar with the voting environment, the movement of delegates, security arrangements, and other procedures that will be part of the October 3 elections. On Friday, the NPP will engage the EC and representatives of all aspirants at the stadium to walk them through the procedures.

Frederick Opare Ansah, chairman of the NPP National Elections Committee, emphasized that the simulation is crucial to ensure that all stakeholders understand what will happen on election day. Any weaknesses identified during the simulation will be addressed before the polls. The committee plans to have a full day on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to correct any inadequacies that may surface during today's exercise.

Opare Ansah stressed that this broader preparation is aimed at ensuring that all stakeholders approach the elections on Saturday with a clear understanding of the procedures. By the time the NPP elections are held on October 3, 45 aspirants will be contesting various positions.
