NFL requests Trump administration to take down video featuring Brian Dawkins highlights

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shared a video montage on social media showcasing Hall of Fame safety and Philadelphia Eagles legend Brian Dawkins' celebrated pregame walkout and his chant, "The time has come," followed by highlights of his impressive career statistics. The video, posted on X, was captioned "Our time has come," in response to a report about a large migrant caravan approaching the United States' southern border.

On Monday, The Athletic correspondent Devon Henderson revealed that the NFL had asked DHS to remove the video. "The league has requested DHS take down the video," an NFL spokesman confirmed, according to Henderson. When contacted by The Athletic, DHS declined to comment on any discussions with Dawkins, the Eagles, or the NFL regarding the video's removal, stating, "DHS is playing lockdown defense at the border. We will use every Weapon at our disposal, from A to X, to keep Americans safe."

Brian Dawkins, a 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee who played 13 of his 16 NFL seasons with the Eagles and his final three with the Denver Broncos, responded to the NFL's request by sharing his own X post on Monday. He clarified that he had not provided permission for the use of his name, image, and likeness, stating, "I have respectfully not given permission to anyone other than those I currently do business with to use my NIL."
