'Never-before-seen' revelations in Rebel's film feud

Rebel Wilson's involvement in creating a smear website accusing a co-producer of sex trafficking emerged as previously unseen texts were presented in court. The Pitch Perfect actress, who directed, co-produced, and starred in The Deb, was seen on Monday for the second week of her dispute with Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron, and Vince Holden.

Wilson is alleged to have made defamatory statements about the trio on July 2024, specifically accusing them of improper behavior towards lead actor Charlotte MacInnes. Texts revealed Wilson was involved in drafting content for a website that described Ghost as an "Indian Ghislaine Maxwell who trades pleasure for protection," according to her co-producers' barrister.

Melbourne barrister Sue Chrysanthou SC argued the messages were disclosed in US litigation by Melissa Nathan, Wilson's crisis management firm. Wilson allegedly asked Nathan the total cost of $110,000 for an untraceable site, ghost server, and hosting, then confirmed her account on the encrypted Signal platform. Texts showed Wilson followed up with Nathan to confirm if she received the website content, having not received an invoice.

Wilson denied engaging the firm or authoring the document in her Federal Court proceedings earlier that year, insisting her US lawyer had hired the PR firm. Chrysanthou objected to an undisclosed email in which Wilson allegedly documented a complaint made by MacInnes about Ghost. MacInnes denied making a complaint, insisting she felt no discomfort when sharing a bath with Ghost after a medical episode in September 2023.

Chrysanthou urged Justice Elisabeth Peden not to consider the email, arguing it would be unfairly prejudicial to MacInnes and unreasonable to authenticate. Wilson's barrister opted for its inclusion, but Justice Peden declined. Wilson will not testify in the NSW Supreme Court.
