Ndindi Nyoro: Uhuru’s regime also took part in facilitating Dangote entry into Lamu

Ndindi Nyoro, a member of the Kenyan People's Party (PPK) and representative for Kiharu in parliament, has dismissed claims from the current administration that they alone paved the way for Dangote's oil refinery investment in Kenya. Nyoro made these remarks during a public address at the PPK headquarters on September 28, 2026. He emphasized that the groundwork for attracting major investors like Dangote was established by previous administrations, urging the nation to acknowledge their contributions.

Nyoro expressed confidence in welcoming such investments, highlighting their role in industrialization and job creation for Kenyans. "Na tunaheshimu wawekezaji wote. Kwa sababu gani? Wanaweka viwanda, inaajiri Wakenya. Dangote refinery is a very good idea," he stated. However, Nyoro firmly rejected the notion that President William Ruto's administration was solely responsible for facilitating Dangote's investment in Kenya.

He highlighted the infrastructure built in Lamu during the tenure of previous governments, asserting that the current government inherited these facilities. Nyoro emphasized that the present administration inherited the facilities in Lamu, rather than building them. He stressed that successive governments had played a part in setting the stage for investments from companies like Dangote.

Nyoro encouraged Kenyans to recognize both the contributions of current and previous administrations in developing the country's infrastructure. He called on the public to appreciate the efforts of generations past and present in creating an environment conducive to attracting investors. "And therefore the current generation and the previous generations wamechangia kwa kuweka misingi ya kampuni kama Dangote kuja kuwekeza hapa Kenya," Nyoro concluded.

He expressed enthusiasm for Dangote's forthcoming oil refinery, scheduled to launch on September 30, 2026, and welcomed the businessman and other investors. Nyoro encouraged continued support for investments that foster industrial growth and employment opportunities in Kenya. This statement preceded Dangote's anticipated arrival in Kenya on September 28, 2026, coinciding with the machinery for the refinery's extraction docking at the Kenyan coast.
