NDC Akatsi South suspends campaign activities following organiser’s death

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Akatsi South constituency has halted all campaign activities in response to the passing of its Constituency Organiser, Mr Sullemana Seidu, commonly known as "Sulley". This suspension came into effect immediately and encompasses branch meetings, aspirants' campaigning and other political gatherings, according to a statement from the Constituency Secretariat.

The decision was made jointly with the Municipal Chief Executive and Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Mr Bernard Ahiafor, who serves as the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament. The party mourned the loss of Mr Seidu, describing him as a diligent worker and dedicated member of the NDC. Serving as the Constituency Organiser from 2018 until his death, Mr Seidu was a key figure in the party's grassroots organization, playing an active role in branch meetings, rallies, inaugurations and election mobilization.

His deep understanding of the constituency's branches, communities and polling stations was instrumental in the party's work at the grassroots level.

The Constituency Executives also hailed Mr Seidu as a unifier who fostered discipline, unity and hard work, mentoring young organisers and youth activists. He was known for his unyielding commitment to the party, often sacrificing his time, resources and personal vehicle to support its activities.

The suspension of campaign activities was intended to give party members the opportunity to mourn Mr Seidu, honor his invaluable contribution to the party and show respect to his family. The cause of his death was still under investigation at the time of this report. Mr Seidu's funeral will be held at Wute on Saturday, September 26, following Islamic customs. The family and NDC Akatsi South Constituency Executive Committee invited party members, friends, sympathizers and the public to attend the burial.

The party extended its deepest condolences to his wife, children, family and loved ones, praying for them during this period of mourning. They also appealed to all aspirants, branch executives and members to adhere to the suspension of campaign-related activities until further notice. The Constituency Secretariat prayed for Almighty Allah to grant Mr Seidu eternal rest.
