MRI shows WR Quincy Porter needs knee surgery, will miss rest of this season for No. 3 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman announced on Monday that receiver Quincy Porter will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to requiring season-ending knee surgery. Porter, a highly touted recruit from Bergen Catholic High School, has not played this season after transferring from Ohio State due to a left knee injury sustained while playing for the Buckeyes.

He had previously undergone patellar tendon surgery in January and was expected to make a full recovery, but a recent MRI revealed that further surgery was necessary to fully address his injury. Freeman expressed disappointment over the news, acknowledging Porter's positive attitude and determination to return to the field. The Fighting Irish (4-0) had hoped that Porter's addition, along with another transfer Mylan Graham, would bolster their receiving corps, which includes Jordan Faison and Jaden Greathouse.

However, Porter's season-ending injury has dealt a significant blow to the team's offensive prospects. Notre Dame faces North Carolina in their next game on Saturday.
