MoCI hosts workshop on combating trademark infringement

Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) recently held its fourth workshop in 2026, focused on combating trademark infringement and identifying genuine versus counterfeit products. This event, organized in collaboration with the Brand Owners' Protection Group (Gulf BPG), gathered MoCI employees and representatives from relevant authorities in the State.

The workshop aimed to bolster the protection of intellectual property rights, increase awareness and knowledge among participants, and enhance their skills in monitoring and detecting trademark infringements. By doing so, these efforts aim to strengthen the overall intellectual property rights protection system and create a secure, sustainable business environment that boosts the competitiveness, diversification, and appeal of Qatar's economy to investors.

The workshop delved into various topics designed to improve participants' understanding of trademark infringement methods and types, as well as the procedures for examining products to determine whether they are authentic or counterfeit. Participants learned to recognize key signs and indicators that can help identify counterfeit products and trademark infringements.

Additionally, the workshop reviewed modern examples and techniques for distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit goods, all aimed at improving the effectiveness of inspection, monitoring, and enforcement activities related to intellectual property rights in line with relevant regulations and laws.
