Milano, una nuova partecipata dedicata all’housing sociale

Milano has launched a new municipal participation dedicated to housing, specifically aimed at developing affordable rental properties for the middle class. The city's governing body has approved guidelines, proposed by assessors Emmanuel Conte, in charge of budget, housing, and the emergency plan. The company will be entirely public, owning the properties for this purpose and receiving a stake in them.

Conte explained that this action completes a two-year plan, covering communal areas for construction, property recovery, purchasing existing homes, and assisting those struggling to pay rent. The structure must be established to continue the work after the administrative term. By October, the corporate structure and financial plan will be defined and proposed to the municipal council for approval.

The challenge ahead is to achieve the 10,000 homes promised over the next decade. Bids have been issued, but the market response has been minimal. A bidding round for three major areas (San Romanello, Palasharp, and Bovisasca) is set to open on October 26th, with a two-week extension.
