Man held for harassing woman at nightclub of five-star hotel in Kolkata

A 24-year-old man, Mohammad Rafe Azim, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 20-year-old woman and using offensive language at a nightclub within a five-star hotel on Kolkata's EM Bypass. The incident occurred at 2am, when the woman and her companions were reportedly physically assaulted and subjected to abusive language by Azim and his associates.

Pragati Maidan Police Station registered a case under various sections of the BNS, including assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, wrongful restraint, and abetment of an offense. The complainant stated that the woman had gone to the nightclub with friends and around 2 am, the accused, along with others, blocked their way.

He then physically assaulted the woman and used obscene language before fleeing the scene. Police traced and arrested Azim from his residence in Beniapukur area on Sunday, with further investigation ongoing.
