Malaysian fans kept in stadium after Indonesia match over safety concerns

Jakarta - Malaysian supporters were temporarily barred from exiting Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium following the 2026 Fifa Asean Cup Group A Division 1 match against Indonesia last night. This precaution was taken to prevent any potential clashes between rival fan groups and to ensure a controlled evacuation of the stadium. Security measures were intensified both inside and outside GBK, with officers positioned at critical points to monitor fan movements, particularly near exits and main walkways.

Malaysian fans were instructed to remain seated and await further orders from security personnel before attempting to leave, in order to maintain a secure environment. The match ended in a goalless draw, with both teams earning a point. Malaysia will face Singapore in their concluding group match at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung on Thursday.
